FigureLane MCP server
Search your bookkeeping records, check figures and prepare reports from Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client. Nothing is saved until you approve it in FigureLane.

Proposed changes need your approval in FigureLane.
What it does
The FigureLane MCP server lets a compatible AI client work with the records in your own FigureLane workspace. It offers 27 tools, including:
- Search and read: find records, open source documents and follow citation links back to signed-in FigureLane.
- Review: list open questions and review checks, and read the audit history.
- Invoices: preview invoice drafts. Saving a draft does not issue or send an invoice.
- Imports: stage PDF, JPEG, PNG, CSV or text originals for your approval.
- Reports: generate PDF, Excel or records CSV snapshots, plus an accountant ZIP that includes the original evidence.
Sign-in and permissions
The server uses OAuth. Compatible clients register automatically with PKCE, then you sign in to FigureLane and approve access. Connecting needs a verified email, a completed business setup and two-factor sign-in when you have it enabled.
By default a connection is read-only. It requests figurelane:read, which covers your records, requested source text, review checks, drafts, audit history and private report generation, plus offline_access so the client can stay connected with refresh tokens.
A client that asks for more can request any of these optional permissions. You see each one before you approve, and the changes it lets a client propose still need your approval in FigureLane.
- figurelane:records:write: propose record corrections, classifications and matches.
- figurelane:review:approve: propose resolved checks and record or month approval.
- figurelane:invoices:write: propose invoice drafts, issuing and paid status.
- figurelane:documents:upload: stage original files and propose importing them.
Connect Claude
Availability depends on your Claude plan and workspace settings.
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and add a custom connector.
- Enter https://figurelane.com/mcp as the server URL.
- Choose Register automatically, then sign in to FigureLane and approve access.
Connect ChatGPT
Whether you can add custom MCP servers depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace permissions. These steps follow OpenAI’s current documentation. We have not yet tested the connection in ChatGPT, so menu names may differ.
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, select the plus button and choose Add custom MCP server.
- Enter a name, then enter https://figurelane.com/mcp as the Server URL.
- Choose OAuth for authentication. FigureLane supports automatic client registration, so no client ID or secret is needed.
- Accept OpenAI’s risk warning and select Create as a plugin. Install it, then sign in to FigureLane and approve access.
Other MCP clients
Any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP and OAuth with automatic client registration can connect with the server URL above. Clients that need a pre-issued client ID or secret are not supported.
Example prompts
- Search my FigureLane records for software subscriptions this quarter.
- Which records in March still need review?
- Show my income and expenses summary for this financial year.
- Preview an invoice draft for 10 hours of design work for a new customer.
- Prepare an accountant pack for last year, including the original documents.
Privacy and control
A connected client can only reach records in your own account, within the scopes you granted. Source text and accountant ZIP originals can be returned to the connected app, so connect only apps you trust.
Any change the client proposes is shown to you in FigureLane as an exact before and after preview. It is saved only when you approve it, and previews expire after 15 minutes. Generated reports are private snapshots that expire after 24 hours and are never shared publicly.
To disconnect an app, open Account and remove it. That revokes its access for the future; it does not erase information the app has already received. Read the privacy policy for storage and deletion.
Common questions
Does the MCP server cost extra?
No. It uses your existing FigureLane workspace and plan allowances, with no separate MCP charge.
Can an AI client change my records without my approval?
No. A client can only propose changes. You open the preview in FigureLane, check the exact before and after, and approve it yourself.
Why does figurelane.com/mcp not open as a web page?
That address is the endpoint for MCP clients. Browser requests are redirected to this page, which explains how to connect.
Which file types can be imported through MCP?
PDF, JPEG, PNG, UTF-8 CSV and text files up to 15 MiB each. You approve the import in FigureLane, where PDFs and photos are read in your own browser.
